Finding the perfect dress to wear to a wedding can be hard which is why Mandy, Eleni, Zeba and myself have teamed up with The Oshawa Center to give you 4 Wedding Guest Dress ideas! When shopping for any occasion a one stop shop is a must.
Each of us was given a gift card to shop for the perfect wedding guest dress (keep reading to see how you can win a gift card). Challenge me to anything fashion related and I’m in. I knew when looking for an outfit to wear the best thing to start with was the actual dress. I headed to a few stores first like The Bay, Zara, RW&Co thinking that the more fancier stores would have something that I was looking for. While they had cute items in the store, I was kind of surprised when I found this cute floral/tropical looking dress at H&m for under $40. I didn’t want anything too fancy as I wanted to make sure that it was a dress I could wear again to a dinner out or even work on a Friday.
With the hardest part of it over it was time for accessories! When I spotted this blue bag at Aldo for $50 I KNEW that it would pair well with the dress. Since the dress was lighter toned, I wanted to bring more colour into the outfit with a bag. The pastel blue is on trend with this summer and was the perfect size for me to carry around a few makeup items, small wallet and spare flats for later in the night. On that note, Aldo also had cute flats that would be perfect because we all know the heels come off around 11ish at a wedding!
Last but not least were shoes! I’ve been trying so long to find a simple pair of brown/nude heels so when I saw these at Town Shoes I grabbed them instantly. I really like the simplicity of the shoe straps but then the fun design on the heels. The best part is that these are currently on sale and were under $60.
How to Find the Perfect Wedding Guest Dress
Location
The first thing I like to consider when looking for a wedding guest dress is location. Is the wedding on a beach? Is it overseas? In a church? All of these can really factor into the type of dress that you’re looking for. The ladies and I broke it down into four different categories to help you give you more of an idea.
Garden Wedding Dress
I opted for a dress that would be perfect for a garden wedding. With the dress being on the shorter side it’s easy to walk around in and you won’t overheat in it while standing or sitting outside. I picked up this dress at H&M for under $40!
Formal Wedding Dress
While Mandy’s dress is also from H&M, it’s the perfect dress for a formal wedding. The longer length gives the dress an elegant look but the simple top prevents the dress looking like a bridesmaid dress.
Daytime Wedding Dress
Daytime weddings can be hard because you want something that you won’t overheat in during the day yet something you can still dance in later. Eleni perfected this look by combining a fun skirt with a simple loose white tank.
Semi-Formal Wedding Dress
If you’re heading to a formal wedding Zeba has the perfect look for you. Combine a printed A-line with a solid coloured top. Creating a formal look out of a skirt allows you to re-wear the pieces long after the wedding as I’m sure the skirt you can re-wear more often compared to a formal looking dress.

Budget
Now you know the type of dress you’re looking for so it’s time to think about the budget! Are you looking to spend over or under $100? This will help you to know what stores to shop at which will speed up your shopping time! The Oshawa Centre offers a variety of different stores so no matter what your budget is you’ll be able to find something. If you’re looking to spend under $100 I suggest looking at H&M or Forever 21 and if you’re willing to spend a little more try The Bay or Le Chateau. However, all stores currently have some amazing summer deals so try your luck and visit the sale sections of the higher-end stores.
