When looking for different travel destinations for my birthday, Aruba popped right to the top of my list! Plus, after learning about Flamingo Beach, I knew I had to go!
Flamingo Beach is part of Renaissance Island in Aruba which is available is guests who are staying at the AAA 4-Diamond Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino. They offer a family friendly as well as an adult-exclusive option. They also offer Aruba’s ONLY private beach. It is located on the Renaissance Island, the Okeanos Spa, two casinos, the Renaissance Mall and much more.
The 40-acre island is an exclusive retreat that is available to guests of the Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino between 7 am and 7 pm. What’s even cooler about this island is that a private water taxi leaves every 15 minutes. It leaves from inside the Renaissance Marina Hotel lobby to take you to the island.
The island offers two beaches for their guests. First, Iguana Beach which is family friendly and offers tonnes of places to relax for the day. The Papagyo Bar and Grill is also located on this side of the beach, which serves burgers, grilled fare, fresh salads and wood-fire baked pizzas.
Second, Flamingo Beach, which is the home to 5 beautiful Flamingo’s and is an adult-only beach. Flamingo Beach also offers private cabanas that have a hammock that lies over the ocean – talk about relaxing. Don’t worry though; there are also many hammocks around the beach that are available to all adult guests. The best are the ones hidden away behind some trees. After all that relaxing you’re probably going to want a drink too right? Well, they have that too! The Papagyo Bar and Grill has a hut on the adult side that will make you any cocktail and also place your food orders and bring them over. Don’t forget to bring quarters with you to purchase food to feed to flamingos – definitely a highlight of visiting the island.
We wanted to get the full Papagyo Bar and Grill experience, so we headed over to the family side of the island and ordered a pizza. Not only was the pizza amazing but also you can’t beat the view you get while eating your lunch. We ordered the BBQ chicken pizza with added pineapple and it did not disappoint.
Already think the Renaissance Island sounds amazing? Well, it also offers complimentary tennis, a fitness room, and a spa. The fitness room offers two treadmills, step machine, workout station, Nordic rider, ski exercises, weights, excise cycles and more. The Okeanos Spa offers a wide variety of treatments that can be enjoyed while overlooking the Caribbean Sea at the private Spa Cove.
