Ways to Use Beauty Blenders or Sponges

Are you a fan of beauty blenders? I have heard mixed reviews and even I have a love/hate relationship with them. I find they work well with some products and others not so much. An example is powder foundations or blushes as I find that the sponges don’t seem to give the same coverage as using the sponge that is usually provided with the item but when some liquid foundations I find it easier to get into the small areas such as around the nose or under the eye to achieve a better coverage. They are also reusable, as you can wash them (they will expand to about twice the size when wet, but shrink once dried) and use them again.

In the past I had been using any kind of sponge that I found at my local drug store but I found that it used a lot of product to cover a small area. It felt like the cheap sponges were sucking up a lot of the product causing me to use much more that I really needed.

I’d love to hear your opinions on beauty sponges in the comments below.

Ways to Use a Beauty Sponge/Blender

  • Use them to apply liquid or cream foundation
  • Use to apply cream based blushes
  • Use to apply under-eye cream/cover up to reduce dark circles
  • Try wetting the sponge, then squeezing out the excess water

This angled beauty blender from Real Techniques, can be used in multiple ways. The flat edge can be used to contour around your eyes and nose, the sides are perfect for blending large areas of the face and the tip will help to cover small imperfections such as pimples or dark spots.

I like my original Beauty Blender best for under-eye concealer. It just does such a good job covering my dark circles and getting into the corners of my eye that brushes can’t reach.

I’ve always been curious as to how to use these! Thanks for the info 🙂 I was wondering if you could also review Vain Pursuits? I’d love to hear what you have to say about them!

How often should we replace these?
