With the evergrowing cosmetics industry in South Korea and the country’s obsession with good skin, Pinki Gosal, Co- Founder and Chief Innovation Officer at Vasanti Cosmetics, decided to take an inspiration trip to South Korea’s capital city, Seoul. While walking down the streets of Myeong-Dong, Seoul’s main shopping district, Gosal couldn’t help but notice the colours and innovation South Korea had to offer. This eventually inspired her to create the new Myeong-Dong (which means bright town in Korean) Collection, taking the colours of South Korea and translating it to suit North American skintones.
Since I lived in South Korea for almost a year and a half hearing the story behind the new collection for Vasanti and their Myeong-Dong collection made me love it just a tad more. I use to spend my weekends walking around Myeong-Dong and going in and out of the countless shops eyeing all the unique pieces. You would have your expensive stores, that I would window shop at, the chain stores (even some that we have here in Canada) and little independent shops which were my personal favourites.
The collection includes four new lip shines shades including St. Lawrence, Belle River, River Finn and Rio Grande. The colours are bold and are formulated with Peptide Technology and hydrates your lips with the vitamin E-infusion. When applied to your lips you will see almost the same colour that you see from the tube due to the high pigments. Overall, I like the shades but do find they are a tad sticky when applied to dryer lips. If you notice this problem as well, try adding a layer of your favourite lip balm before applied the glosses.
EXPERT TIP: lipstick can be worn alone for glowing, vibrant lips or with a Lipshine on top for added shine.
