DIY Lactation Cookies

Want to know how to make your own DIY lactation cookies? Keep on reading!

Over the past week, I’ve been really craving chocolate chip cookies so I thought since I’m breastfeeding I might as well make lactation cookies to help boost and keep my milk supply up.

When creating lactation cookies there are a few ingredients that you want to make sure you’re including. These specific items help to boost your milk supply and are overall good for your health.

All three of these items can easily be found at your local bulk food store.

Milk Boosting Foods Include:

  • Oats
  • Flaxseed
  • Brewer’s Yeast

Oats offer a high amount of carbohydrates, proteins, fibre, vitamins, etc. They also have compounds like saponins that can raise prolactin levels in the body which then boosts your milk synthesis.

Flaxseed is packed with phytoestrogens, which absorbs the oestrogen in your body. This controls prolactin, thereby your milk supply!

Brewer’s Yeast is rich in vitamin B-complex, which helps increase milk production as they are crucial in cellular metabolism.
