Niagara-on-the-Lake Weekend Getaway Itinerary
Check into Hotel
The first step for any getaway is to check into your hotel and if you’re a blogger you add ‘taking photos’ to your to-do list. For this trip, we partnered up with Sketchers to ensure we had the most comfortable shoes as we knew we would be doing a lot of walking inside of the wineries. So before heading to the hotel, we made sure to capture some cute photos of our Sketchers. I didn’t know we’d have as much snow as we did that weekend so I opted for a pair of simple grey slip-ons. I knew that these shoes would be not only comfortable for this weekend but for upcoming summer adventures as well as they’re light-weight and have a soft cushioning inside. Make sure to check out the VLOG as you’ll see just how much snow we had!
After our photos, we hit the road and headed to White Oaks Conference Resort and Spa which is located just off the highway in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The hotel offers a variety of different packages which make it super easy to plan the perfect weekend getaway. We obviously were going for the Girls Getaway type of weekend so we were all about the wine, food and spa!
Visit Local Wineries
With the hotel being located in Niagara-on-the-Lake the only logical thing to do is visit a couple wineries. The hotel was so generous and provided us with a driver for the day who was so sweet! Our first stop was Peller Estates Winery & Restaurant where we got a full wine tour which included visiting the 10Below Icewine Lounge. If you’re in the area go check it out as it’s such a fun and unique experience.
Our 2nd and last stop of the day was Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery & Distillery which offers skating during the winter season. At the back of their winery, they have the cutest rink that also has an outside bar which is set up with heating lamps and blankets to keep you warm. Eleni and I have some
great photos from skating, you’ll have to see below.
Back to Hotel for Dinner
After visiting a couple wineries it was time to head back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. As you can see in the VLOG there was a lot of snow that weekend which resulted in some frizzy hair. While some of us relaxed in the room, others took some time to touch up their hair and makeup.
My makeup definitely needed a touch-up and hair could use a few more curls after the snow made it super flat. Luckily, Schwarzkopf gifted us each with a bottle of GLISS Hair Repair which helps to add more volume to your hair. All you do is spray the product into towel dry hair and then blow-dry and style it as normal. Super easy and does not leave you with greasy hair. The formula with collagen complex repairs inner hair damage and lifts the hair from the roots for long-lasting volume, without weighing it down. You can pick it up for $10 at Shoppers Drug Mart.
For dinner, we ate at the hotel at the LIV Restaurant. We started off with a glass of sparkling wine and each ordered an appetizer. We each started with a different salad which I opted for the Beet Salad and it did not disappoint. Choosing the main course was a little harder – even being a vegetarian. Usually, at fancier type restaurant I find it difficult to find something I’d enjoy eating but this was not the case. In the end, I opted for the white bean and wild mushroom ragoût. Make you scroll down to see a photo of it because the presentation of this meal was on point!
In-Room Movie Time
After dinner, we headed back to the room for some movie and Instagram time. Before I can relax I always need to take off my makeup and hop into my PJs. I packed my No7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes as when I’m travelling I like to use these as they are simple to use and there is also no chance of any liquid leaking all over your stuff. For only $10 a pack (at Shoppers Drug Mart) which contains 30 wipes it’s a great deal. They take off everything even waterproof mascara. They also are perfect for all skin types and won’t leave your skin feeling irritated as they contain Witch Hazel and Fennel to clear pores and keep skin smooth and fresh. Contains Panthenol (vitamin B5) to moisturize and soften.
The White Oaks Conference Resort and Spa offers a package just for girls called ‘Girls Just Wanna‘ which offers spa credit for each person, dinner credit, breakfast credit and in-room movies with munchies. As you’ll see in the VLOG, when we entered our room we had a TON of chips and chocolate waiting for us. We might have even dug into these snacks before the movies…chips are one thing I can not resist.
The next morning, we got up and headed to the hotel spa for our Mani & Pedi’s. I’ve been to the White Oaks Conference Resort and Spa before but never knew how big their spa actually was. Behind the closed doors are relaxation rooms which have light snacks, tea, water, etc. that you’re can help yourself to while you’re waiting for your treatments. Two of us opted for a Mani while the others got a Pedi. I really liked how both of those services were in the same room which allowed us all to still hang out. I believe the room can fit up to 6 people (3 Mani, 3 Pedi) which would make it perfect for a larger girls weekend or even a bachelorette party.
Also, if mani and pedi’s are not your thing the hotel also offers a wide variety of different spa treatments.
After the spa, it was time for brunch! Brunch might be one of the best meals because it’s socially acceptable to still eat breakfast food while sipping on a little bit of champagne. Once again we ate at the LIV Restaurant at the hotel and it was delicious. I ordered my first ever Eggs Benedict and even as I write this, I’m craving that meal all over again. The beautiful bright windows in the LIV Restaurant honestly makes it one of the best places for breakfast.
Last Minute Shopping
The White Oaks Conference Resort and Spa is RIGHT across the street from the Outlet Collection at Niagara which has some amazing stores like Marshalls, Kate Spade and Saks Off Fifth. Definitely, recommend checking out some of these stores before you head home.
