Changing Up Your Living Space

Changing Up Your Living Space

It’s funny that once you purchase a home you find yourself constantly thinking about furniture – indoor and outdoor furniture. Not only that but you’re also always thinking about redecorating or well, at least, I am.

I recently shared on my Instagram page, the new set up for my living room. Before it was so bland and seemed to be a lot of browns in the room. We have a big rock accent wall in between our kitchen and living room and I find sometimes hard to pair with. Do I add more rock? More stone? Or maybe I should just change up the design completely. What about adding a high gloss sideboard? Or a rustic bookshelf?See the rock wall here.

We ended up changing the room around to give it more of a tropical/beachy vibe as I insanely miss my days living in Australia. (Canadian winters suck). To do that we opted for some wood photo frames on each side of a massive wave photo. If that doesn’t scream beach, I’m not sure what does.

Now that I feel the inside of our house is complete, we have started to think about the backyard. We didn’t do much last year but since we know end up spending A LOT of our time in the back during the warmer months we really want to create a cozy atmosphere.

To do that, we are looking to purchase new furniture as that’s really the major accent in a backyard unless you have a pool…then lucky you! I’m personally a big fan of the wicker sets (see below), especially this circle chair!

Overall, the goal is to add in a patio set like seen above, a big umbrella and, of course, a sturdy table to hold my cocktails! Cheers!

Quick Tips for Changing Up Your Living Space:

  • Add in an accent chair
  • Opt for a new coffee table
  • DIY your current coffee table
  • Add more green into the space with the use of plants
  • Add pillows to your couch and chairs

Here is some other furniture that is giving me the beachy vibes! What type of trend do you go for in your house?
