The Queen’s Plate

Zeba of Ella Pretty Blog and myself were invited to the Woodbine Queen’s Plate by Vaughan Mills, who are the official sponsor of the Queen’s Plate. We had the opportunity to shop for an outfit for the occasion and the experience the races the best way possible!

We started our day on the hunt for a white & black outfit that had a pop of pink to it at Vaughan Mills. We started at Winners where I found multiple white dresses, that I loved but just weren’t the right choices. In the end I opted for a black & pink accent RW&Co ELLECollection dress that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. With the dress code needing a ‘touch of pink’, there was no way I couldn’t get this dress. Also, because it was on sale and was marked down another 40%. Now that’s a deal if you ask me!

In true Queen’s Plate fashion, Zeba and I had to find a head-piece to wear! We couldn’t find any big hats, that most people wear to the races so we headed to Clarie’s and got our DIY on to create our own fascinators with the use of their headbands and flower/fascinator clips.

With our outfits in check, we were off to the races! Our first stop was the Vaughan Mills tent where we stopped in to say hi to Sarah, the official Vaughan Mills Stylist. There were huge lines at this tent as Vaughan Mills was giving away 2 $250 gift cards to people who were tweeting or instagraming their photos from the tent. Our next stop was the Rethink the Races tent, which was probably my favourite! I won’t lie, I dived pretty quickly into the snacks that were being handed out (how can you say no to Food Truck food?) and got a custom fascinator made! Since I had a pretty classic one already from the shopping trip, I opted for  a floral headband that I know I will be wearing again.

It was the best day EVER 🙂 Next time we need to fuel ourselves so we can be super speedy shoppers – but I think we did really good given our time constrains 🙂
